7th and 8th Grade Language Arts
Welcome to my website for 7th and 8th grade Language Arts. Below are my expectations for the students and some class procedures and required materials.
Expectations: I expect all students to come to class prepared, show respect to everyone in the class by following rules and procedures, and trying his or her hardest at all times.
Homework Procedures: Homework is due the day after it is assigned (most cases) and I will check and give credit that day.
Missed Class work: I have a class binder for all work we do arranged by date and students will need to look in that binder for a sample of the work, if needed, and obtain the handout (if there is one) in the appropriate folder in the classroom. Students should also confer with a pre-designated class buddy to get information about missed work. When completed, the work must be placed in the appropriate tray marked by hour.
Daily Procedures- Follow class procedures for restroom passes, homework, and pencil sharpening. Each student is expected to come to class with a pencil and other supplies, including a class novel.
-Stay seated unless I give permission to move around the classroom
-Do not distract others with unnecessary talking
-Keep your hands, feet, and belongings to yourself and respect others' belongings
-Always remember all students have the right to learn and we all learn differently
Required Materials: Individual novel, a folder for all papers, a spiral notebook (two for 7th grade), pencils, pens, sticky notes, a colored pencil set, two highlighters.
Grading Policy: The WCS District grading policy is adhered to. Assessments are weighted as 75% of a student's grade, while the other 25% is based on homework/daily work.
Cell Phone Policy - I do not allow cell phones to be in use in my classroom
